Dit is geen van allen aangegeven in de vraagstelling.

Ik zal de gehele vraagstelling uittypen (is wel engels):
For the population of all workers in a large factory, mean and standard deviation of the variable X = ‘annual income (in units of €1000)’ are respectively 25 and 2.5. This is all that is given about the distribution of X. For these workers, precisely one of the following statements is completely correct. Which?

1. At least 90% of the observations of X lie in the interval (18.25, 31.75).
2. At most 10% of the observations of X do not lie in the interval (18.25, 31.75).
3. At most 6.85% of the observations of X are larger than or equal to 31.75.
4. At most 6.85% of the observations of X are smaller than or equal to 18.25.
5. At most 13.7% of the observations of X are larger than or equal to 31.75.

Antwoord e zou dan juist moeten zijn. Maar ik zou niet weten hoe ik daar achter zou moeten komen.

Antwoord

In de veronderstelling dat het hier gaat om een normale verdeling kan je een tekening maken. Dat ziet er dan ongeveer zo uit. Je kent natuurlijk de vuistregels?




A. en B. vallen dan meteen al af. En C. en D. trouwens ook...
Maar 't antwoord bij E. is het ook niet...

Ik denk dat er een fout staat in de opgave. Mogelijkerwijs moet de standaarddeviatie niet 2,5 zijn maar 6,25? Je krijgt dan net als boven zulke plaatjes, maar dan anders. Gebruik de vuistregels.
