A hiker leaves the rim of the Grand Canyon...

Hoe zou je volgende model moeten aantonen:

'A hiker leaves the rim of the Grand Canyon at 8am and hikes to the bottom, arriving there at 4pm. After camping overnight, the hiker climbs out of the canyon the next day by the same route, again starting at 8am and reaching the rim at 4pm. Show that there is some point on the trail that the hiker passes at the same time on both days.'

Noem d(t) het verschil in actuele hoogte op moment t tussen de eerste tocht en de tweede. Welke eigenschappen heeft d(t) dan? Welke stelling is er op toepasbaar? (middelbareschool-stelling zelfs)
