Eigenwaarden `ontdekker`

De vraag is waarom we het Eigenvalue noemen in het engels. Komt dat doordat mr. Eigen het heeft gedefinieerd of omdat het een duits/nederlandse "ontdekking" is en dat daarom heel de wereld het "eigen" noemt.

Geen ontdekker, gewoon deels uit het Duits overgenomen.

The adjectives also combine with other sorts of nouns, including equations, solutions, functions and vectors. The story of the terminology ranges across algebra, analysis and mechanics, classical and quantum.
